It might be the NFL off-season but that doesn’t mean the FanTab NFL Team Standings are quiet. NFL indexes have been abuzz as fans have been excited about player signings and results from the NFL combine. Football Fantabbers, keep up the good work and rate confidence in your favorite NFL team going into next season.
1. Browns Fans Excited for Next Season
Fan confidence in the Cleveland
Browns climbed 27 points to a 77 today with a ton of good news coming out of the Browns camp early this week. The team finalized a five year contract with oft-injured, but seriously talented, linebacker D’Qwell Jackson. Jackson had missed the two seasons prior to 2011 with torn pectoral muscles, but in 2012 he rebounded, becoming one of leaders on the Browns defense. Jackson was apparently overcome with emotion during his introductory press conference, likely amazed that he was able to recover from two serious injuries to become one of the anchors of the team. Fans are also likely bumping confidence because of rumors regarding the NFL Draft this spring. The Browns are apparently one of the projected front-runners in trade talks for the St. Louis Rams’ number two pick in the draft. With that second pick the Browns would likely draft Heisman winner Robert Griffin III, who dominated the combine and has the tools to be a star QB in the NFL.
2. Cowboys Fans Bump Confidence With Free Agency Rumors
Confidence in the Dallas Cowboys was up 35 points to an 85 today following rumors that the team was in the hunt for a veteran cornerback this off-season. The team is apparently trying to sign either cornerback Cortland Finnegan out of Tennessee or Kansas City defensive back Brandon Carr. Both CB’s represent experience and skill in the defensive backfield, likely an encouraging sign for Dallas fans who were frustrated with poor play on defense in the second half of games in 2011. The Cowboys were plagued with late game collapses last season, ultimately resulting in a campaign that ended without a playoff berth. Dallas fans are probably especially ready to start the 2012 campaign considering the fact that their division rival New York Giants ended up winning the Super Bowl last year.
